I’ve long been a supporter of Sunshine Support who provide independent information, advice and support to parents/carers and professionals of children and young people with special educational needs.  I’ve been in contact with Chrissa and Marguerite for some time and they’ve always asked me to pop over to them to give a presentation on Dyslexia. They’ve now moved their information sessions to an online platform and it’s great that this has made their informative presentations, from a whole host of professionals, more accessible to the wider community.

I’m pleased to announce that I’ll be giving a presentation on the evening of June 9th 2020, via webinar.

In this session I’ll aim to cover as much as I can about the whole process from; Why should I get assessed, When should I get assessed, What happens next, What does good intervention look like, What happens if I need to apply for an EHCP. I’ll also be chatting about how we assess for Dyslexia and what are the signs of other overlapping learning difficulties.  There’ll be plenty of opportunity for questions.

My aim is that you’ll feel more informed about the journey that you’ll be on when you’re considering assessment.  You’ll know more about what Dyslexia is and the routes of assessment. You’ll learn a little about some of the co-existing learning difficulties and why you should look for someone who is aware of other overlapping difficulties, to be more informed and refer you on for more specific support. I’ll chat about when the right time is to get an assessment. Once you have a diagnosis, what will good intervention look like. I’ll also talk about what happens if you need an EHCP (Education Health Care Plan) and how to be specific in what you request during that draft time period.

This event is open to all and you can book tickets direct with Sunshine Support where you’ll be take to a link on Eventbrite to book.
